Pierwsza część filmu, zrealizowanego dla francusko-niemieckiej stacji ARTE, przedstawia skrótowo powojenną historię Polski. W drugiej części poznajemy Polskę oczyma obcokrajowców. Kilku z nich wybrało nasz kraj jako miejsce do życia. Jest to film o meandrach naszej najnowszej historii (po 1989 roku) prowadzących nas do Unii Europejskiej. O tym, co zmieniło się w Polsce, a co jeszcze należałoby zmienić, opowiadają Francuzi: Hubert Bricourd, Jean-Maria Havar (rolnicy), Jean Caillot (Honorowy przewodniczący Francuskiej Izby Przemysłowo-Handlowej w Polsce), Pierre-Antoine Donnet (korespondent AFP), Bertrand LeGuern (wiceprezes TP S.A.), Holendrzy: Patrick van Melick (Dyrektor Generalny firmy THOMA, Maszyny Rolnicze), Bob Kruijsse (Dyrektor AON Poland Ltd.), Jaap C. van Oost (Prezes firmy Philips w Polsce), Ekke Overbeek (korespondent gazety „Trouw”) i Niemcy: Jürgen Hensel (sekretarz naukowy Żydowskiego Instytutu Historycznego w Warszawie), Thomas Roser (korespondent Stuttgarter Zeitung), Thomas Urban (korespondent Süddeutsche Zeitung). A film made for the Franco-German ARTE television network. Its first part is a brief summary of Poland’s post-war history. The second part is a look at Poland through the eyes of foreigners, some of whom made Poland their second homeland. They talk about the ups and downs of Poland’s road to the European Union and the achievements and failures of the transformation period.
France is represented by Hubert Bricourd and Jean-Maria Havar (farmers), Jean Caillot (Honorary President of the French Chamber for Industry and Trade in Poland), Pierre-Antoine Donnet (AFP correspondent) and Bertrand LeGuern (vice-president of TP S.A.). Patrick van Melick (General Director of THOMA, Agricultural Machinery), Bob Kruijsse (Director of AON Poland Ltd.), Jaap C. van Oost (President of Philips Bureau in Poland) and Ekke Overbeek (correspondent of the Trouw daily) are from the Netherlands and Jürgen Hensel (a researcher at the Jewish Historical Institute), Thomas Roser (correspondent of Stuttgarter Zeitung) and Thomas Urban (correspondent of Süddeutsche Zeitung) come from Germany. The speakers also include Ewa Juńczyk-Ziomecka and Katarzyna Kietlińska who recently returned to Poland after living abroad for some time.
