Singer, songwriter and poet, Jacek Kaczmarski has been dubbed the bard of the Solidarity movement. His songs were a powerful voice of protest against the communist regime and appealed to the tradition of the Polish nation’s patriotic resistance. Kaczmarski was on a tour of France when martial law was imposed in Poland on 13 December 1981. The film is a recording of his concert at the Polish Centre of the Pallottines in Paris in the autumn of 1988.
Jacek Kaczmarski died of cancer in 2004, at the age of 47.
